JI001 Fawn Metallic Series 1
The Jensen Interceptor saloon had a distinctive large, curving wrap-around rear window that doubled as a tailgate. The original specification included electric windows, reclining front seats, a wood rimmed steering wheel, radio with twin speakers, reversing lights and an electric clock. It was by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976, with over 6,400 being produced. The car broke with Jensen tradition by having a steel bodyshell instead of glass-reinforced plastic and by having the body designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, rather than the in-house staff. The early bodies were Italian-built, by Vignale, before production by Jensen themselves began in West Bromwich.

JI002 Primrose Jensen Interceptor
The Series II Jensen was announced in October 1969 and had vented disc brakes. Top speed was 138mph and 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds. This really was a car to turn heads, mind you at 13 mpg it needed a bit of filling up.

MGZ002 - Steel/Mineral Blue MGZB

The ZA was replaced by the Magnette ZB in 1956. Power was increased to 64 hp by fitting 1½ inch carburettors, increasing the compression ratio from 7.5 to 8.3. The interior was improved by fitting a wood dashboard and there was also a Varitone model with larger rear window and optional two tone paintwork, on which our model is based. The extra power meant the top speed increased to 86 mph and the 0-60 mph time came down to 18.5 seconds.

The Jaguar Mark VII's arrival coincided with some relaxation of the desperate economic situation that pervaded Britain after the war. By the time of the models' 1954 upgrade, 20,908 had been produced.

JAGVII003 - Monte Carlo
Although one would not think so, because of its size, the Mark VII was successful in competition, and for some years dominated the touring car races at Silverstone, driven by among others Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorne. The vehicle was also entered in rallies, and a Mark VII won the 1956 Monte Carlo Rally, driven by Ronald Adams with 213 penalty points.
A trio of MKV11 saloons took part with three top drivers, Ian Appleyard, Cecil Varied and Ronnie Adams. The latter chose Frank Bigger and Derek Johnston, the 1952 Circuit of Ireland winner also from Lisburn, as his crew. Ronnie won a first prize of £1,200 for that prestigious race, which was a lot of money in those days and of course the Prince Rainier Trophy. Our model is complete with spats off and plenty of detail.

MGZ001 Magnette Red

A new release into our 1:43rd range, the MG ZA Magnette that was designed by ex-Jowett Javelin designer Gerald Palmer. It made its debut in 1953 to an eager band of MG saloon enthusiasts. The new Magnette shared its Palmer designed bodyshell with the Wolseley 4/44 which appeared at the same time. The Magnette made good use of the BMC 1489cc, B-Series engine which gave this mid-sized family car good performance for its day. It had a graceful four door body style that looked almost Italian from some angles, it featured the traditional MG front grille which was raked to give it an aerodynamic shape to match the rest of the cars design. Inside the Magnette was well equipped and came complete with a semi-octaginal speedo as normally found in MG saloons. The Magnette ZA was replaced by the improved ZB in 1956 and later a Varitone option was offered.
